"Inspired by Émile Zola's cycle of 20 novels entitled Les Rougon-Macquart written about France's Second Empire (1852-1870), this latest release by The Ebony Tower is the largest in scope the project has thus done. Each book has a single wall dedicated to it, and each wall is specifically crafted to suit the various moods and changes in tone that the novel takes on throughout. With this release, I hope to adequately represent not only the literary significance of Zola, but to capture the essence and message each novel is conveying. These are rich, humane, complex moral affairs meant for reflection, and the perspectives are just as important today as they were when they were written. It is rare that I am so profoundly affected by a single work of literature, and I hope that those who listen will find that I've translated this well. I consider this my most important work I've done."
