'Unseen, Unheard' is the fourth 'themed' compilation from the netlabel and a HNW dedication to the un-looked-for quality of wall noise. These walls are not "for" any particular listener, they simply "are". They take as core thematic stimulus the idea of 'lack' and the idea of obscurity, specifically an obscuring of the senses and an obscuring of meaning and value placed in artists and their art.

Historically, a lot of HNW has been associated with ideas of nothingness and meaninglessness - this compilation serves at once as a nod to this tradition as well as a look further, towards the self-referential thematic of the waller as 'outsider artist' - creating walls for the sake of themselves or for no sake at all (or perhaps, somehow, both) - and as an unsung figure that thanklessly toils at a craft they know few will place the same value in as they place themselves.

This thematic basis is, of course, a bit stuffy and ultimately serves as a simple jumping off point to bring these great wallers presented here together. It has been a seriously long jump ahead in time since the third compilation - all the way back in June 2017. The labels impetus has faltered slightly here and there since but I am eager to try and reinstate a flux of activity.
